Took the fat bike out today. Started from the house and hit FINS to Lum Wash, out to the Gila River, rode some of the Cisco trails, out to Corgett Wash, Sunrise trail, Maricopa Trail back to FINS. Saw some hikers here and there. Saw a coyote on the pipeline road behind the houses on 185th Ave.

Decided I wanted some abuse for brunch today, so I rode across the street and climbed most of the FINS black diamond trails. Saw three bikers and 10 hikers on the FINS trails.

Got home from 2 hours of pickleball this morning and thought, damn it's a great day to go for a bike ride! Screwed around on FINS trails for a bit then Maricopa/Sunrise trail over to the Estrella Foothills Community Park, Park Ave out to the EMRP Iron Ranger, Fenceline/GNODS Connector to GNODS, did some loops then rode through the neighborhoods back home. Saw 3 bikers and a whole bunch of hikers out on the trails. Merry Christmas!

Busy day today but managed to squeeze in a quick bike ride up to see the Christmas tree in FINS. Lots of hikers on the trails. Stopped to chat with a bunch of young lads on top of North Star trail at the Christmas Tree. One of the 3rd graders said I was a "chill old dude".

Maricopa Trail - Westar to Estrella

Took the fat bike out for a spin this morning. Started on FINS trails, Maricopa trail (FINS to Dogbone), jumped off on farm 2 track then sandy desert powerline roads to Sunrise trail (Maricopa trail EMRP to FINS) back to FINS and home. Saw a group of 4 hikers and 2 sets of couples on my way out and back in on FINS.

Sunset ride with neighbor Craig on FINS trails tonight. Did a nice counter clockwise loop on Spent Spade, Kimurel's Hurl (which just reopened after maintenance), Kim's Climb, Bearclaw, Hurts Donut, Northeast Passage, Entrance, Joey's Jaunt, FINS Access, Wayne's World, Rainbow Valley, Spade Connector, Muriel's Mile, and back out on the pipeline access road parallel to 185th Ave. Stopped to chat for a bit with a guy on a Orbea Wild eMTB, and a woman taking a picture of the nearly full moon with her iPhone on a tripod.

Took the fat bike out for an adventure ride after all the storms last week. Started in FINS and picked up Lum Wash north all the way to the Gila River. Lum Wash has an abundance of sand with tall vertical carved out walls. Found a boat near the Gila River end. Headed east on the predominately bumpy river rock of the Gila River to Cotton Lane. Rode the bridge over and back then hit the Lucero trails between Cotton Lane and Estrella Parkway out to the circle. Crossed Estrella Parkway and followed Sunrise trail (Estrella Loop) south past Estrella Foothills High School and then followed Maricopa trail back to FINS and home. Saw some hikers on Lucero trails, a big group of hikers on Sunrise trail, and a number of people who appeared to be picking up trail in the Gila River under Cotton Lane bridge.

Forecast was sketchy and I was beat up from pickleball last night, so I opted for a shorty on FINS trails. Lots of damage from this week's storms. Did a hike a bike up North Star trail and down Shooting Star trail. Stopped to chat with a hiker, 75 year old Gene, for a bit at the top of Brian's Brink. Saw one other biker and a hiker out on the trails.

Park Ave Trail - Estrella Foothills

Squeezed in a mountain bike ride this morning on Estrella Mountain Ranch trails. Started on FINS and took Maricopa trail (Sunrise) over to Estrella Foothills Community Park, then Park Ave out to the Estrella Mountain Regional Park Iron Ranger, GNODS Connector down to GNODS, loop through GNODS trails then back home through EMR neighborhoods. Actually saw a hiker on GNODS trails, a biker on GNODS, and another at the EMRP Iron Ranger. Trails have some damage and accumulated sand deposits from recent rains.

Had to replace the rear tire on the gravel bike, so test ride time! Picked out a nice mix of terrain around Estrella Mountain Ranch neighborhoods and farm field roads. Happy with the new tire. Beautiful morning. Saw one hiker near Estrella Foothills Community Park.

Took the fat bike out to do some exploring this morning. Jumped on the FINS power line at 185th Ave and headed west. Crossed Rainbow Valley road followed some jeep trails up into the hills. After some pushing up and sliding down gnarly rocky terrain, I continued west around the hills on the flatter desert. Ran in to a woman at the bottom of the hill, she didn't speak english, I don't speak spanish, so we faked a conversation for a bit with a lot of head nodding and both went on our way. Followed more desert and farm roads between Rainbow Valley and Tuthill. I was on Maricopa trail for a bit and barely missed a coiled up rattlesnake. I stopped for some pictures and the snake never moved an inch, which is just fine by me. Eventually got to the gas pipeline road that goes through some new community development construction on the way back to FINS.

Great cloud cover this morning for a gravel bike ride in the neighborhood! Did a loop through Cantamia, lots and lots of people out enjoying the morning. Graveled it up on Sunrise trail, Corgett Wash, and FINS. Washed the bike when I got home, it's gotta stay pretty.

I was battling vertigo for a couple of days this week. Was feeling better so I jumped on the bike for an easy ride around Estrella Mountain Ranch trails. Started in FINS, took Maricopa/Sunrise trail over to EFHS, then Corgett Wash, Mulligan, Westar Hill, Lum Wash, back to FINS. Everybody was out walking their dog this morning. Saw one other biker on Corgett wash and a hiker on Mulligan.
