The goal of today's hike, was to look for the route up Temple Canyon, to the point I got stopped a couple of weeks ago from the top.

On the Pine Canyon Trail, I found the lightly used trail heading up the canyon. 50 yards in, the Boy Scouts red flags started showing up. Long pants should have been the set up today as I had to go slowly in spots trying to dodge the PI. The red flags were evident for a large portion of the route and when they weren't seen, it was typically due to fallen trees

There is quite a bit of bear scat in this canyon, including a fresh pile that was seen on the way down, that was not there on the way up.

The walls close in and the canyon gets more scenic the farther you get up it.

I got to the dryfall that stopped me coming from the top a couple of weeks ago. The chains and cable look to be in good shape. From up top, I didn't think I'd be doing this any time soon. From below, it looked quite doable and should be in the cards for a future hike

Back down the way I came and then bypassed the Pine Canyon for an off trail jaunt to the west of Pine Creek.

Didn't have a set plan, other than trying to find the old Boy Scout route down Temple Canyon. I started from the Cinch Hook Trailhead in the middle of the Bla Bla family reunion. A pack of dogs noisily came to meet me. After clearing the area, I followed a rough trace route of the trail from the map I've been working off of.

I only found a few of the red Boy Scout tags, but kept on. I decided to hit up Cinch Hook Butte, which was much nicer (and steeper) than expected. Well worth the climb.

I finally started finding markers and followed them into Temple Canyon. It got tighter and more interesting the farther I got into it. I finally hit the spot I saw that was curiously marked as "Chains and Cables" on the map. This was my turn around point for the day. It was a 50' - 60' drop. The cable and chain was on the north side of the canyon drop. Being solo, I was not going to try it. I'm not sure if I'm up for it with a team of 10.

On the way back, I found many more red tags, as it seems the majority of the tags were only placed on trees while going uphill.

Just to check out some new territory, I jumped over SR87 and hit up a few old FR's and canyons.

Great weather but still humid from last nights rains.
