In my mind, the best way to do this trail is from the ForestGlen TH. This involves an additional .72 miles to get to the Golden Gulch, but the trails in the area are very mild so it doesn’t involve that much effort. The Golden Gulch is probably my favorite trail in the system. It has some nice views to start out with and there is some mild elevation change. That is different from most of the trails in the area which are flat with minimal change in the views. This trail is short and leads to homes which is the downside for this hike. Did this hike as an in and out. The landscape looked very nice, compared to my previous visit back in March. The Mesquite trees, which had looked like dead bramble had filled out, providing a surprising amount of greenery to what can be a drab landscape. The wildlife seemed to agree. I saw a herd of 13 deer enjoying the offerings. |
