Up along Horsetail Falls then on past Ropi Lake, Lake of the Woods and Lake Aloha to turn around at Mosquito Pass, then back along the PCT and up to the excellent Ralston summit from the north side. Exited down the south side of Ralston, which is another unfortunate victim of the 2021 Caldor Fire. The trail is still usable but the forest is toast . Bike shuttle between trailheads.

The trail starts in deep woods and gets down to business in a hurry. Up, cross country skiers have confused the route with many alternate paths. I got off track and was unable to complete the hike this trip. I will return.
