Perfect time of the year to visit this unique place!
I started with a desert hike to the east locating approx 30-35 native grinding holes for which this place is know for.
Then headed west to climb boulders up to several overlook points.
Several more grinding holes found along the way.
Sooo many formations out there to climb, will have to come back and camp someday.
There were 3 RV campers on this day with many open sites available.
Fun place, had a really good time!
:D

Hiking with my ole' buddy Lauren again ... It's been awhile!
We hiked the standard lasso loop with a side trip out to the "first" Fort Bowie.
We were both bummed that the visitor center was closed on this day (closed due to staffing issues).
Always a very cool AZ history hike with great scenery 360.

On the drive back out we made a quick stop at Indian Bread Rocks.
We only had time for a short climb up the big slab at the picnic area for a great lookie around, what a cool place!
So cool that I know we will be back for a full day to explore soon.

Am so happy to have my friend back in town, it was a fun day!
:D

I had never been to this place, so I wanted to check it out. It is a little south of Bowie and easy to get to. It features a nice picnic area and plenty of spots for dispersed camping. There is very little shade to be had, so for me as a tent camper it isn't very desirable. However, it seems to be popular with the RV crowd. The other major downside is you will be camping with plenty of cattle around. Other than that, it is a fairly scenic area at the edge of the Dos Cabezas Mountains Wilderness.
