Started this hike with Brian after a cold night of camping in the van. He measured the overnight low temp to be 39 degrees. That was quite a bit out of my comfort zone for camping. We started about 0.3 miles from the end of the dirt road and headed Southwest, away from the road. Looking up at the summit, we saw 2 high peaks and the peak on the left appeared to be higher. We later learned that the peak on the left had an elevation of 2180, at least according to the topo map, which was 2 feet lower than the official peak at 2182. Starting off we stayed down in the canyon. After a while it got rocky so we moved up to higher ground where it was easier to hike. We kept going up and made it to a high ridgeline which involved some rock climbing. When the rocks were too steep, we just hiked around them. We ended up getting to a small saddle North of Peak 2180. At this point we were 0.44 miles from the peak as the crow flies. We decided to skip summiting Peak 2180 and instead go around it and down to the saddle East of Peak 2182. Once at that saddle, the hike got a bit steeper. We saw some cairns higher up and followed them.

At the summit of 2182 we looked around for a registry and it took us 5 minutes to find it because it wasn't marked well. The jar was plastic and had a crack in it. The registry was in bad shape. I replaced the plastic jar with a glass jar, and added a few extra rocks to make the location more visible. Thanks to Matthias Stender for leaving a new piece of paper and putting that inside a medicine container to separate it from the old registry which was full of dirt and hard to even read. It was quite windy at the peak. We learned about a trail called Margies Cove which we could see below to the Southwest. We took a different route down staying on top of a ridgeline and staying out of the rocky canyon which ended up being a pretty good route.

There was very little wildlife around here. We only saw a few lizards and birds down lower. I believe we saw a hawk near the peak and some quail on the drive out at lower elevation.

Stats:
--------
Distance (round trip) = 3.8 miles
AEG = 1,126 feet
Strava moving time = 2 hrs 6 mins
Strava elapsed time = 4 hrs 21 mins
