Got to the Glenforest TH around 7am. Looked like a couple of cars had car camped at the TH. There is a forest road that takes off from the TH, but it is pretty removed spot so imagine it is a nice place to car camp. The trail signage at the TH did not indicate any new trails. Started on the Cedar Knoll Trail and immediately noted some “shortcuts” had been added to the trail and as I continued I saw some new use trails had been added to the system. Took Cedar to Sunset Loop and then took the north (left) branch of the Sunset to get to the Well Vista Trail. This trail has a gate, but someone had lodged two large stones to keep the gate open. Not sure why that would be done, but some effort was needed to do it. The trail ends at small shelf with a decent overlook of the Well and Beaver Creek(?). Returned to Sunset and continued on the loop. As I was approaching the SW side of the loop I decided to follow a use trail that took off to the south. As expected, it connected to the Bull Pasture Trail. This trail ends at a forest road which I used to get back to the TH.
An ok loop. Some nice distant views. A nice break for the legs. Didn’t see anyone on the trails….or wildlife. However, on the drive back saw a bobcat crossing the road and then 5 deer grazing on the side of the road. |
