Since I had my car today, a stroll of the pipeline road was one of my approach options. I split left earlier at the obvious El Paso natural gas substation about 2.6 miles from the fire station, school and towers at SR238 & 99th Ave. In retrospect, driving this road would seem horror-esque. The dry, puffy and silty sand is several inches deep in many places and would absolutely desert flour any vehicle. The Creosote and trees on each side of the road are caked tan with dust from the regular rooster tails. Once away from the road, there are some nice Ironwoods, but not many Saguaros until near the mountain. My return walk over open desert was worth saving an $11 car wash fee.
