| partners | | High winds kept us from our boating trip out in the gulf today, so I looked for a hike that none of us had done before. I found no information about this hike anywhere except for a waypoint on Google Maps. In satellite view, there was a visible trailhead, and the track appeared to form a complete loop. I cobbled together a route without having any idea what to expect.
At the trailhead, we encountered some hunters in camo who had just returned from their hunt. I didn’t expect the game they had bagged to be something native to southern Florida—turkey.
The hike itself wasn’t particularly exciting. It followed ORV trails and wound through grasslands, cypress, palms, and swampland. Along the loop, we passed a few more groups of hunters coming in for the day.
The AEG was brutal on this hike, as it is on most hikes in this state |
