Highland Light

First stop was Cape Cod Light (aka Highland Light). This is the oldest lighthouse on the Cape.

To get to the light you follow the path through the middle of the Highland Links Golf Course. with a history dating back to the late 1890s. This is a 9 hole course, with 2 different sets of tees if you play 18.

Race Point Beach

I had a hike drawn up for here, but neither one of us was up for a 4 mile dunes walk in deep sand, so we just checked it out. This is the Cape Cod National Seashore and I was able to use my America the Beautiful Pass to enter.

Race Point Lighthouse Trail

This was the first real hike at about 4 miles round trip. Most of it was on an old levee until we reached an area of retreating water we needed to get around to avoid getting our shoes wet. This hike is best done at low tide. It was an easy walk though some dunes and we were there. The lighthouse is closed but we checked out the area, including the beach.

Pilgrim Monument-Museum

Deb had never been to Provincetown before, so this was a treat for her. If you've never been, it's quite the scene. Time it for nighttime if you can. We climbed the 210' tall Pilgrim Monument to take in the 360 views of P-Town and the Cape.

Dunes Shack Trail

I did this one to finish the day. it's all through deep sand dunes, which added to the effort. I walked out barefoot, back in shoes, which was much easier. I thought I'd be able to visit one of the historic shacks, but the one I picked was occupied. A GPS track is helpful as there are paths crisscrossing all over through the dunes. It is a very pretty area.
