We started our hike at the Graveyard Fields parking area. First, we climbed down a staircase to get to the river, then headed east and down another set of stairs to view Second Falls. We followed what we thought was the trail to access the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MTS) and Skinny Dip Falls, but it turned out to be a "use trail" that fizzled out, so we backtracked.

We found the correct MTS trail marked by a semi-hidden ribbon at a fork. Once on it, it was a steady downhill trek through thick but easily traveled vegetation to reach Skinny Dip Falls. The bridge across the river and the swimming area have been rearranged by Hurricane Helena in 2024. You can still cross the river, but you'll likely get your feet wet. This was probably the least impressive waterfall on the hike.

Returning the way we came, we were able to reach the top of Yellowstone Falls, but our attempts to find a lower viewpoint were unsuccessful.

Next, we went to the far western portion of our hike to reach Upper Falls. This was another impressive one. The trail to get there was easy, except for the final climb to the top of the falls. If it were muddy, the trail and the climb to the top would be miserably slippery.

On the way back to the trailhead, we completed the loop by taking the southern portion of the trail.
