The Duckabush trailhead is 0.1 mile up an unmarked road on the right a little past the horse trailer lot. Easy to miss.
Got going just after 7AM on a cloudy, lightly drizzly morning. The trail is in very good shape. Easy to follow. Only a little overgrowth higher up.
The trail only approaches the river in a couple places, at least on my hike. At ~2.4 miles and again at "five mile" which was my turn around point. The river is beautiful. There are camping spots at both locations.
My original plan was to just hike to the top of the "hump". I was hiking in the clouds at that point.I was feeling fine so I continued on to five mile.
I saw grouse five times, including some half grown young ones. Not many berries to eat, I guess I didn't get high enough for the good stuff. Wildflowers were light as well.
The weather started clearing up the last third of the hike. 62 degrees at the trailhead when I finished.
Saw 9 people, five of them backpackers returning. Wonderful hike. :)

This was supposed to be an easy stroll along the Duckabush River Trail after my night at the Interrorem Cabin, but it didn't work out quite as I was hoping. My initial plan was to head out to the "Big Hump" where there is supposed to be a nice view of the valley, but I cut the hike short and headed back early. I can't point a finger at any one thing, it just really felt that it wasn't my day. My right knee was bugging me, I was feeling exhausted for such an easy hike, and the laces on BOTH of my boots snapped within minutes of each other. Still had fun though, can't wait to head back to the Olympics when things are not snow covered and do more exploring.
