Greg, Virg, Kaila, and I departed Camas at around 9:30 and were on the trail by about 11:30. Had a couple of minor navigational issues on the way up, and stopped at Panther Creek Falls along the way. Also got to engage 4wd to cross a minor road washout which added to the adventure.
Weather was partly cloudy and in the 70s. We encountered maybe 4 groups of hikers during our entire time on the trail. There were more lakes than I could possibly remember, and it would be easy for anyone to head out here and find their own lake to enjoy, far from anyone else. There were quite a few mosquitoes, so we repeatedly soaked ourselves in deet and never really took a break. We were also motivated by the idea of hitting the brewery in Stevenson on the way back, so we kept a pretty quick pace through the entire hike. |
