At the recommendation of a patron of the Sunrise Shack in Glen, our preferred breakfast joint and the only place close by that opens early, we opted for the Mount Willard trail in Crawford Notch State Park. It was a great recommendation.
The hike is 3.3 miles out and back. It starts at the trailhead located behind the railroad depot adjacent to the AMC Highland Center at Crawford Notch. Cross the tracks and follow the signs to the Mount Willard trail. Like the other trails on my three day visit, the hike starts out flat under a canopy of trees with steady elevation gain until you reach the summit. Check out the Centennial Pool on the way up. The hike ends at the cliff overlooking Crawford Notch. Spectacular views. |
