I joined the Phoenix Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society last year and since then have found myself in the position of Field Trip Coordinator. This was the first trip I organized and it was a great success. I wanted a less committing trip that would be accessible for all of our members and this proved to be the perfect outing. Until recently, I had no idea this place existed, but I am glad I came across it. It is a great local archaeological resource and an ideal location to learn about glyphs and see some first hand. The museum was excellent as well, in particular, I was impressed with the Perry Mesa exhibit. I roped Larry into signing up with AAS and he accompanied us on our little outing.

A quick stop on my way up north. It's interesting to see, but Sears Point and Painted Rock are much more impressive.

Sightseeing with Mother In Law. Had to run boy to bathroom and back out to viewing center. So I got 2 laps in. We spent some time at the petroglyphs with a chuckwalla.

Went years ago with family, but recently returned chaperoning a school field trip. It was as neat as I remembered, if only we hadn't arrived at noon when all the petroglyphs were practically invisible.

Spur of the moment trip with Lynn to explore the Rock Art Center trail. The mid-day sun certainly obscures a lot of 1500+ petroglyphs at the site. Recommend early morning or late afternoon visits to maximize viewing pleasure...
