9L told me about this as we drove by one time. This kind of thing is kryptonite for me, so obviously we had to stop and check it out. Literally walked by it 4 times ... while aggressively looking for it ... before seeing it.

Wow! Amazeballs.

This was more of an offroading trip than a hiking trip. We made our way from Jakes Corner Ruins to Camp Grasshopper on Aztec Peak. We did do a couple short hikes through out the day.

Dual sport day. Motorcycle loop 60-188-87 topped off with a couple short hikes making for a perfect day. Made this a little longer by parking at Jakes Corner and further exploration.

We did this hike as a near-trifecta of Upper Tonto Basin ruins that included Black Mountain Ruins and an attempt at the Gisela Ruins.

Very easy hike with a trailhead accessible to smaller vehicles as it's less than 1/2 mile from the highway. Lots of parking next to the old corral.

The hike up the hill is easy. Just be on the lookout for fresh cow patties. The rock wall is unique, but there is evidence of recent diggings up there. We also found pottery shards along the slope. Nice views of the Sierra Anchas, the Tonto Basin and the famous Jake's Corner Bar.

On the way back we went to investigate Mud Spring but it has indeed been diverted to provide water for the stock tank inside the corral.

Jumped in my time machine and took a day trip to the ruins. Had a great day of exploring.

Examined the petroglygh panels again, explored the hilltop above for any additional ruins or petroglyphs; found none. The rancher in the area has developed Mud Spring into a nice stock tank with clear water in it.

A lunch break hike; explored the canyon bottom again, checking for more petroglyphs. Had lunch in the canyon under the shade of a large rock.
