We drove down to the Sunrise visitor center, and headed westward through Berkeley Park. After reaching the saddle, we took the slope down to the Winthrop Glacier and the creek that is exploding out of it. Came back the way we went, but I took some time to scramble up Skyscraper Peak on the way back before the fog rolled over us. Great weather, highs about 70 degrees or so, lots of cloud cover. we had to traverse some pretty large snowfields, a little out of the norm for a desert rat like myself. There is a very good reason that this area is designated as a National Park. I hope to get back soon! |
