| no partners | | Had a great day Hike with my boy's.
Fossil Creek is a gem in the desert. The stark contrast between the desert and the lush valley is really something amazing. My boy's were excited to go in the stream and were really impressed with the waterfalls which being AZ have never seen before (at least not that they remember).
We started around noon and finished just after sunset. I thought it was interesting that the parking lot had only a few cars in it but then again it is still early in the season. To cold for me to go all the way in the water. We only saw six other people on the trail and at the 'toilet' bowl.
We really had a great time and I wish we had started earlier and had spent more time exploring the old dam site and walking out down along the creek edge. Another regret is not having come up here when the old dam and flume were in place. I would have liked to have had some perspective. Still very happy that APC decommissioned it all and appear to have done a really nice job cleaning it all out. |
