"wickedly steep" says the description and it's not kidding. The views are stupendous but the "trail" is too demanding of attention both up and down because of the treacherous footing. A good one-time hike.
The road from Globe to TH is in good shape for a sedan but requires some sang-froid on account of the fall-offs.

Good Summer's day for a hike, not really hot. There was a couple in the parking lot snipping the pods off prickly pearand collecting them in bags. No, I said nothing, that kind of person can't be reasoned with.
I managed to stay on the trail, mostly. I finally nailed that stained waterfall section near the top instead of wandering lost. It was a clear view from the top over to Superior. On the way down many different butterflies and the rumble of thunder from far away sounding close courtesy of the wind.
BTW I didn't see the cairn that alerts you to make the left from the Arizona trail but there is a wooden post you can spot easily.

With sunny/90 forecast it looked like a good day to try a new hike. It took a while to get to Wickenburg (always check for road construction first). The track to the trailhead is well marked from Vulture Mine Road. At the first trailhead there is a metal ramada with a little information about the trail and plenty of the usual warnings. The trail to the steep bit is a pleasant curtain-raiser, lots of cholla and ocotillo with flowers. The steep part certainly is but is well-maintained and has its own charm. The views from the saddle are only slightly less spectacular than from the peak but there's nothing quite like being on the very top. The chute to the top is about as steep as it gets without climbing but the narrowness means there are plenty of handholds. Getting back down was easier than I thought it would be, I recommend you go down facing the rock. An excellent hike with views and challenge both. On your way back down Vulture mine road catch the roadside tribute to Buckeye Valley Fire Chief Bill Lanford, who died at this spot 02/05/2003 on his Harley.
