| no partners | | My roommate and I got up early to take this trail. I agree that it has beautiful views and presents quite a challenge. On a scale from 1-5 in difficulty, I would rate this trail a 3, not the 2 given. We had taken the Sierra Prietta Trail the week before and based the 2 rating on that and were greatly mistaken by the difficulty of the trail. Although it wasn't a horrible hike, it was more difficult than what my roommate and I had expected from being rated a 2 and not exactly the difficulty we wanted to attempt today.
The trail started out a little steep (which we expected based on the discription). However the trail has many rocks on the path, and the terrain does not lead for steady footing. The hike down is no easier than the hike up because you must stabilize your footing to keep from falling. The zig zag pattern trail made it easier than it could have been going down, and did the same up the other side of the mountain going up. The difficulty comes in keeping your footing on the very small trail.
If you are looking for a challenge and beautiful views, this is a wonderful hike. We plan on going again when we are up for a challenge. |
