The trailhead is at the end of the unpaved but well graded road 0063, at the Warner Lake campground.
This is a good, easy to follow trail, a steady incline leading to a phenomenal viewpoint of the Lasal Mountains, the Strike and Spanish Valley.

If you are looking for solitude - difficult to find around Mt Rainier when the wildflowers are blooming - this trail is for you.
From Packwood take Skate Creek Rd towards Ashland and take a right at NF5270. Follow it almost to the end, to the parking at the Tatoosh Ridge trailhead.
It's a relentless climb in the forest for two miles to reach the meadow and the first views. More climbing follows, but now in views and, in season, through one of the most gorgeous displays of wildflowers.

A good part of this hike is on the Amasa Back 4WD track. But if you do this on a weekday you will barely notice it.
You are in great views all the way.
And a steep but short side trip will bring you to one of the most beautiful petroglyph panels around.

A hike to the plateau surrounding Canaan Mountain, South of Zion.
A mile from the parking lot you reach the narrows of Water Canyon. How easy you get past the narrows depends on the water level - we where end of October, lucky!
The trail climbs on the almost vertical left side of the canyon.
At the top, after a short descent, things get much easier on gentle slickrock slopes. Follow the valley to the left for about 1/4 mile, then start climbing to the right. You soon reach the "wave"-like area, with beautiful domes and views towards Zion.
You can continue West to the edge of the mesa for more wonderful views.
