Great Trail. We went nearly to Humphreys Peak on this on, so it was farther than 6.9. We might have gone 11.
Bright sunshine in the AM. Dangerous Lightning in the PM. We thought we were going to get wet, but it only sprinkle a little.
All the way to Humphreys from Lockett Meadow is one of the prettiest hikes around. It is uphill all the way, about 4,500 feet difference in about 6 miles. Take water and oxygen.
I worry about people leaving the trail on Agaziz. The surface is soft and crumbly and should be vulnerable to washouts and land slides. How wise is it to go around the snow field where the Borg and I stopped. Yet, most who came to it left the trail to go around. How long will it be before they block off Agaziz because of fear of erosion and damage to the rare tundra plants?
Been there spring, summer and fall. Early in October is a great time to go, because of the Aspen leaves. But this was the best picture environment I have encountered.

:) You guys that are saying this is an easy hike need to understand that it is not for most people. It is strenuous and tiring. I am 56 years old, but I did pretty good. But the steep trails and the need for cables may be too much for some who are starting out.
If you are afraid of heights, you might want to rethink this one. It is not as bad as Angel's Landing in Zion, but there are places that are not for the faint of heart.
All that being said - A great hike! I have made it twice in the winter and once in April. The flowers are great, the views are great, and the other hikers are great. But take your time and lots of pictures. This hike is best enjoyed as a hike and not as a race. :)

Boulder Canyon Trail is a delightful and delightfully easy trail. There is some elevation gain, and cliffs - don't get too close to the edge. But with all the eye candy, it is still a great way to spend a morning.
I haven't seen this much water since 1979. L V Yates and I used to take kids to camp at the base of Battleship Mtn at Second Water. We were trailing up the other side of Boulder Canyon when I was little and hauling out gem grade fire agate when I was about 10 in the early sixties. There was some water then, too.
The most I saw was in 79, tho. We had to wade Boulder Creek. It was waist deep. What a great reminder of how it was.
