We did the loop hike, starting at the north boat ramp and rock hopping along behind the dam, then up and over the boulder hills until we were on the other side of the lake. The rest of the loop is flatter, but just as enjoyable with sunflowers everywhere and lots of shade among the huge trees. We did the 5 miles in a leisurely 3.5 hours with our 7 and 10 year olds plus the dog. Not terribly crowded either given it was right in the middle of Labor Day weekend. There were probably less than a dozen kayaks on the lake and we saw about 8 other hiking parties on the trail over the 5 miles. |
