Hiked San Tan Trail today with a friend. Nice all-around trail-enough ups and downs to make it interesting, and some nice views of the mountains behind the San Tans. :)

Hiked again with a friend. Always love the view from the top. :)

I enjoyed this hike. I had to be up and down in about an hour, so I didn't get to spend much time at the top, but the view from the top was good! I would do it again. I don't consider myself "in shape", so going up took me about 40 minutes (probably would've been less if I hadn't taken pictures...:)). The trip down took under 15 minutes-but that was because I ran. I would allow for maybe 20-30 minutes for the return trip another time. :) This trail was a good workout, but not impossible. It doesn't appear to be frequented by groups, either-the trail itself is narrow and I only met two other hikers the whole time.

Great hike! It's beautiful in spring and even more so in the fall because of all the aspen and maple trees. Bring your camera. For the most part, the trail is easy enough to take kids on; my 9-year-old brother enjoyed it. It's one of my favorite hikes.

I always go past Wind Cave to the top of the mountain-the terrain gets more rocky, but it's not terrible, and the view from the top is always amazing. On a clear day, you can see from Fountain Hills to Picacho Peak north of Tuscon. The actual time spent hiking was a little over two hours-I just spent more time at the top than I intended. :)
