A nice 10 mile hike to the top of hill 2326 in State Land Southeast of Peralta Road and Northeast of Entrada del Oro. Pretty easy hike until you get to the base of the hill and then there's a lot of bushwhacking and boulder hopping to the top. I wanted to get to the top of the hill before the sun set so I could get some pictures. I got some that were pretty decent, however I wish I would have taken my better camera for the crescent Moon and city lights that are gorgeous from there. Bush wacking in the dark is interesting. I had a headlamp, but there was sufficient light from the city even after the moon went down to see where I was going.
Headed out along Dutchman Trail #104 off of Peralta Trailhead then to Coffee Flat trail #108 and followed it into State Trust Land into Barkley's Basin. Was headed to Randolph Canyon but missed it. You can see more explanation of it on Facebook with a couple of videos that I can't post here. https://www.facebook.com/GlenFullmer/po ... 3600292267
Pretty easy and well known hike up to Fremont Saddle, but beyond to Robber's Roost there was some times we got off the trail as it wasn't super well marked and there was some overgrowth. I went with HikeAZ, a Facebook group that had been there before from the Saddle. I haven't hiked it this way before as I only have done it from Carney Springs TH previously. Here is a link on FB that might give you more information and videos. https://www.facebook.com/GlenFullmer/po ... 6921115398
Wildflowers ObservationIsolated Some cactus were in bloom.
I sure liked exploring the desert around Peralta Road on state land. Looked at some of the areas that the State Land Trust proposed to sell at auction. Luckily that sale didn't go through. It was a beautiful sunrise.
Interesting hike to the petroglyphs and beyond. It is an easy hike to the petroglyphs, but because of recent rains going beyond them is bit slow because of the overgrowth and not really a clear trail. There was a lot of catclaw, and some boulder hopping. You can see more of this adventure on Facebook as I can't post movies here. https://www.facebook.com/GlenFullmer/po ... 4664739090
This was a part mountain biking and road biking adventure. I road around my neighborhood in Gold Canyon and then biked onto State Trust Land. I crashed once, but no real injuries. It is always the easy stuff! I did post it on my FB page with pictures. The reason that it originally showed only 18 miles was because RS showed a point to point measurement when I realized I wasn't on "airplane mode" and switched it on. I was told to get good values of elevation to turn on "airplane mode" so other things don't screw it up. I turned on "airplane mode" and didn't kill the original RS and it didn't track them.
A fun hike off Trail a good portion. Nice view from the top of the hill. Started when it was about 81° and finished when it was 91°. It was rather humid for arizona.
I saw a picture of a lost pet turtle on Facebook and thought I would take a bike ride to where the turtle was lost. There was a lot of hiking as I went up the wash where the turtle might have been. Here is the link on FB for my post about it with a video explaination. https://www.facebook.com/GlenFullmer/po ... 3969001847
This is a hike up Hog Canyon with an attempt to get the Hog Canyon falls. I didn't make it. However somebody the next day went up there and the falls weren't really running there were just the ponds.I forgot how much boulder hopping and bushwhacking there was. I got off the trail a couple of times and had to bushwhack my way out. I do it once about every 2 years as it takes me that long to forget the bushwhacking and boulder hopping.
I was thinking of going hiking off of Peralta road to Hill that I call 2400 and get to the base via a mountain bike. I've hiked it but previously I drove a car to get to the start. I copped out as I got to the base because I was getting hot and it would have to do a lot of bushwhacking and scree surfing.
I called this the hill of the Fallen Cross but others call it Holy Hill. The reason for that is because there's two telephone poles attached together as a cross that has fallen. It turns out the ashes of Don Donnelly and others have been laid to rest there. One of their living spouses call it the Holy Hill. This is part of the State Land that is going to be auctioned off by the State in the not too distant future. It will be sad to see this and some other petroglyphs sites become factories for electric trucks. Here is the Facebook Link: https://www.facebook.com/GlenFullmer/po ... 2498265142

A bike ride from Peralta Trails off of Peralta Road via Peralta Canyon to Kings Ranch Road through Mountain Brooke to Superstition Mountain Boulevard to top of Kings Ranch Road to the end of Baseline Road and back again. Almost all on pavement except a little behind Bashes and along some of Baseline Road. Here is a link to the description and some sped up video. https://www.facebook.com/1054077525/vid ... 606700686/
This was a bike ride and some hiking before the State Trust Lands were off limits because of the fire danger. I started from Peralta Trails went along the Power Line Trail to Entrada del Oro then going North-East following the dirt road that was pretty nice for a while then met with some very rocky terrain and then did some of the hiking. From there I got to East Gold Rush road and then from there to Peralta road and then back to Peralta trails. Met a couple of Bikers that had stopped for a rattlesnake in their path.
Nice morning. It was a bit Smokey because of the fire. However, it was a nice enjoyable hike. When I started it was in the '80s and when I finished it was in the 90s.
This was a bike ride from the back of Peralta Trails and Canyon communities which are now under massive construction. From there I went to Kings Ranch Road and then from there to the State Trust Land and down to Peralta Road and returning back to Peralta Trails. Most of the trail is Ok, but I had to do some hiking as some of the roads were not meant for mountain bikes.
This is a hike I took out of my backyard. It goes along a number of dirt roads. Nice hike with little elevation. I left early in the morning (about 6am) and finished about 10 am. When I started the temp was 72f and when I finished it was about 90f. I did some bushwhacking trying to find a short cut. I recorded it on a go-pro and posted a video about the hike with a sped up version of the go-pro video on FaceBook. It can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/GlenFullmer/po ... 2741991460
