I've done this hike a couple of times now with different people. 2 questions:

Does anyone know the history of the cement marker on the side of the trail near the top (or seen it for that matter?)? I can't remember what it says, but if I remember correctly, the front is blank as if a metal face used to be there, and stones are sunk into to the top spelling something. I have a picture somewhere.

Has anyone seen what looks like a second mine shaft on a ledge in the cliff halfway up the ridge face, above the Old Spanish mine? Has anyone checked it out? I haven't had a chance to see if there's a way down from above, but maybe there was once a ladder or scaffolding with steps...
