I've done this hike a couple of times now with different people. 2 questions:

Does anyone know the history of the cement marker on the side of the trail near the top (or seen it for that matter?)? I can't remember what it says, but if I remember correctly, the front is blank as if a metal face used to be there, and stones are sunk into to the top spelling something. I have a picture somewhere.

Has anyone seen what looks like a second mine shaft on a ledge in the cliff halfway up the ridge face, above the Old Spanish mine? Has anyone checked it out? I haven't had a chance to see if there's a way down from above, but maybe there was once a ladder or scaffolding with steps...

WARNING! Hiking and outdoor related sports can be dangerous. Be responsible and prepare for the trip. Study the area you are entering and plan accordingly. Dress for the current and unexpected weather changes. Take plenty of water. Never go alone. Make an itinerary with your plan(s), route(s), destination(s) and expected return time. Give your itinerary to trusted family and/or friends.
