Decided to add this to my summer fitness hike rotation. The entire gully climb was shaded! The trail is in excellent condition and very thoughtfully cairned. Only in the gully for very short stretches mostly at the beginning of the climb. Most of the routing is to the right.

It’s a pleasant climb, wish it were a tad shorter on the wash to get to the climb. A very nice morning!

Hiked up to Rincon Peak yesterday. Road had about 10 water crossings. We were in an suv so no problem. There was a sedan at the trailhead also but I would have not been comfortable driving a sedan through the crossings.

Snow and ice patches on the last ½ mile. I used micro spikes but part of our group just went commando. Trails in good condition. Could use a little branch trimming. Couple of downed logs to climb over between Happy Valley and the final push. Not sure if they were there or not the last time I hiked there in 2020

Water was flowing everywhere. I took and drank 4.5 liters and filtered another liter. Saw a couple camping at Happy Valley. Talked to a couple of backpackers who were bushwhacking along some game trails and bumped into another camper at Happy Valley who was starting toward the peak as we were on our way down.

Great weather and as always great views at top. The last ½ mile is still steep!

Hiked to Kimball via Pima Canyon yesterday. My first time to Kimball via Pima. Trail is in great condition and no route finding issues. 3 separate trail maintenance groups have made the trail better than it’s been for at least 25 years.

Lots of water running. I took 4 liters. But it’s probably a rare time when I could have only carried 2 and filtered along the way. Saw 2 other people who turned back at the saddle and 1 guy who went up Finger Rock at the top. Took me 4:30 up and 3:30 down. My Garmin clocked in at 13.99 miles.

Almost didn’t go because it was supposed to be high winds at the top. From the saddle to the peak it was actually calm. I’m losing faith in mountain-forecast!
