| no partners | | Got the permits for this back in December 2018 -Rim Cubed backpack starting at South Bass TH. River crossing was easy on packrafts heading North-got Guinness off rafters! We camped near Bass Camp first night. The second day we had to cross Shinumo Creek five times. Due to large snow pack and melt, these crossings were difficult-particularly crossing No.2. High and fast water. Both of us were nearly 200lbs and struggled with the crossings. Once out of Shinumo drainage we made good time on Tonto till it dropped back down into White's Creek. We camped two nights below Redwall in White's. We day hiked up the Redwall and up to the Muav Saddle and visited Teddy's Cabin. There were no cars at North Bass TH |

| no partners | | This was the first time up here since the fire last summer. Started out on Barnhardt and was just at the wilderness boundary sign when the first burnt trees were encountered. The damage gets worse as you go up the canyon though some ponderosa and pine survive. There was a good flow on each of the waterfalls and some snow on north facing slopes. At the Maz divide the damage is nearly total -very few manzanita trees left -hills are barren. Lost the trail shortly after Windsor's Saddle so had to bushwhack to Cactus Saddle. Picked up the Y-Bar trail. The is less damage on this trail. Spotted some whitetail. Y-Bar is an ankle buster. |

| no partners | | Hiked this trail on 11th Aug 03. The trail-head is about 15 miles south of the 179/I17 junction down an unpaved road - plenty of washboards. Coming from this direction there is no sign for the turnoff to the trail-head. There is a sign for people coming from the south. It was just short of 100 degrees as I started out
at about 11am. Went about ½ mile from last creek crossing before turning back-had to be in town by 5pm. The first few crossings I managed to stay dry but when I nearly went on my ear I just trudged through the water in my boots. Bit of a mistake as I now have a blister on my foot. By 4pm monsoon clouds had begun to appear and a wind whipped up reducing the temperature. Was out and on my way to town when the rain came -took some photos. |
