Charged up to the saddle, admired the needle and headed down the cave trail. I can't get enough of the cave trail, this was my third Sunday in a row exploring off trail areas! Can't believe I had never checked it out before. Incredible views! There's still more I need to go discover! The Supes never disappoint me!

Been wanting to do this hike for a long time now. Every time I looked at Four Peaks I wondered what it's like up there. We had tried to hike browns trail few weeks prior but ended up with with a flat tire about 12 miles into 143 coming from the West. This time we took El Oso road near Lake Roosevelt. Much easier traveling from that side!

Had lots of fun on the way up playing in the snow, lots of snowballs were thrown on this hike🙂. Pretty easy going until it came time to actually climb up to the peak. Loved scrambling and climbing up to the top. A little sketchy in some spots but we like stuff like that!

We were greeted by lady bugs and some of the best views I have ever seen on a mountaintop! 360 degrees of awesome sights! Took a nice long break and had some snacks and some celebratory wine. Took our time on the way down being very careful not to hurt ourselves. Once off the peak it was smooth sailing all the way back to the trailhead. Stopped at Lake Roosevelt and went through Globe to get back home. Great time and a great hike, we were all smiles that day!

First time up picketpost and man what an awesome time that was! My cousin had been wanting to do this hike for years and finally we had the chance to go. Had a lot of fun scrambling up and and getting to the summit. It was great to finally see the mailbox in person and kick back on top and enjoy the views!

My legs got a little shaky on the way down and there were plenty of slippery slopes to contend with. Was also cool to see a bit of the AZ Trail while there. Great hike and good times!

First trip ever to the Fremont saddle. The view of weavers needle is incredible! Made the trip out to the pinyon pine and kicked back while soaking in the views. Hope to stand on top of the needle someday!

Awesome hike in RMNP with great views of Longs Peak. If you have time however, do Longs Peak instead or Chasm Lake.

Beers, swimmin and chillin makes for an awesome hike! Really nice little trail and a very pretty area. Great swimmin hole along the way and we had it all to ourselves! Battled with the gnats on the way out however, be prepared :gun:

Took some friends of mine here for their first time. They have been hiking shaw butte and north mountain so I wanted to get them on something new. We all had a blast hiking together and they had a great time on the trail. When I pointed out the Thumb while heading east on the 101 they weren't so sure they could do the hike :scared: . I assured them they would be fine and they were of course. Hiking with friends is so much fun! Awesome day to be out there and hopefully I can get them on some Superstition hikes soon :)

I decided to hike up the Battleship for my third time, but this time I approached from the trail head at Canyon Lake instead. The lake and mountains looked awesome in the early morning sun and the views looking South were amazing! Seeing La Barge, Weavers Needle and Battleship approaching from the North was incredible on this cloudy day! Met up with 3 random guys Todd, Calvin and Jeff and headed down the trail with them. They were going up La Barge and I followed them into the canyon a little ways to check it out. It was my first time seeing La Barge up close and the rock formations were gorgeous! I said my farewells with them there and cut a path of my own making straight up to the south end of Battleship.

The mountain was a little slippery, but I made good time to the summit and had lots of fun along the way. Saw a hawk at the top and the usual amazing sights. Noticed in the log that a man all the way from Ireland had made the hike a few weeks ago and remarked that it was the best hike he had ever been on. Made me feel grateful to have the Supes in our backyard.

Went down on the West side of the mountain and began my long journey back to the marina at Canyon Lake. Saw a few hikers on my way back North and two lovely ladies who kindly directed me onto the right path home. The climb out was really draining a lot of energy from my tanks. However, I got into a good groove and used my mental strength (and desire for a burger and beer)to motivate my pumpkin back to the top. Turned around often to see how far I had gone and how far I had come. I was very happy with my hike today! The weather was great all day and I covered lots of new ground. Another hiking success in the books! 8)

Got to the trail head with The Dave at 7:00 am. My friend Dave had never been hiking in the Superstitions before and I wanted to show him how rad it is out there. Saw MNLumberjack taking pictures and introduced myself as a fellow HAZer. He said it was a good day to hike the Battleship and he was right. 70's with some cloud cover and very little wind that day. Set off right away and cruised down to second water trail and headed east for the Battleship. Pointed at the top of Geronimo Head and told Dave that's where we were headed ha ha. Took pictures of the views on the way and made it to boulder canyon trail and headed south.

Still some water flow goin on in the canyon, lots of little pools full of algae. Definitely not as awesome as it was in November though. Got to the pumpkin end of Battleship and I took Dave off the trail and up, up ,up. I feel like I took a different way up than I did the 1st time I did this hike, nonetheless made it up just the same. We were both excited to be there, the views were amazing as ever. Made it across the narrow ridge but we stopped short of the summit due to an old knee injury Dave has. A successful hike was had regardless and we were super stoked to be on top of that mountain for sure. Smiles all around!

Dave was tired on the way back. This was the longest distance he had ever hiked before. My friend really pushed his limits on this one. Needless to say we were both happy when we saw the first water trail head pop into view. Toasted to the hike with in n out burgers afterwards. This was a good hike and a great time, love it out there!

Didn't hike for all of December because my knees swelled up after I had given piggy back rides to my cousins on Thanksgiving after having hiked Battleship mountain the day before. Decided to take it easy for a while and not hiking for a month was driving me crazy. Finally my knees feel better and I was happy to start of my year with a hike up to the Flatiron today!

Got to the trail head at 6:45am to wait for the sun to rise before I started the hike to the top and it was nice to see the sky go from stars to sunlight! The trail was pretty much empty my entire way up and I got to the top in about an hour and thirty minutes. I walked out to the edge of the Flatiron and went east around the Southern edge until I met up with the Ridge Line Trail. The views were awesome as always and I sat on a cliff and had a snack while enjoying the scenery.

On my way down The trail was full of people. I feel like i passed more than 100 at the very least. Not a single orange arrow to be seen and I just want to say THANK YOU to the awesome HAZ'ers who were part of the removal project. A great start to my year and I have my eyes set on the Chiricahua Monument soon :)

This was the longest solo hike that I have ever done in my life! This was also my first time on Second Water Trail, Boulder Canyon Trail and my first trip to the top of Battleship Mountain!

I started off from the First Water Trailhead at 6:40am. The sun was just beginning to rise and the sky looked awesome! Hustled down the Second Water Trail at a good pace and soon Battleship Mountain was in view. What a sight that was, I got very excited at the thought that I would soon be standing on top of it!

Made my way down to the canyon and what's that I hear? Flowing water? Awesome!!! :y: The Canyon was beautiful and I didn't realize that there would be so much water. Heading south, I just stepped/hopped from boulder to boulder in the water whenever I could rather than walk on the sides :GB: Kept my eyes to the East looking for my opportunity to get up to the South base of Battleship and saw a cairn...now we're in business!

Went pretty slow picking my route up and realized I had gone to far to the left. Came back around to the South side closer to the alcove and saw my way up. Climbing up there was a large loose stone that I knew to look out for from reading triplogs past.. thanks HAZ! Cruised along the ridge and had lots of fun along the way. Passed the narrow ridge and made it up the left side to the edge of the mountain and then hit the peak on my way back.

Amazing views everywhere...Geronimo's Head, La Barge Canyon, Weaver's Needle, Canyon Lake.
After checking out the sights I took a break to eat and rest, then started the trip back. Made it back with no issues other than having totally submerged both of my boots in water, oops. Saw a rabbit, one tarantula and some cool frogs along the way. This was a great hike and definitely time well spent. I've been having such an awesome time hiking lately and I still have so much to see and do out there...it's a fantastic feeling! :y:

Decided to do Siphon Draw to Flatiron today with 2 friends...Great decision!

Started up at 7am and made it up around 9:30. It was my friends first trip up to the top and they were very happy to be there. The trail was beautiful this morning! The clouds were covering/hovering the Flatiron and the nearby peak. Noticed the giant fluorescent orange arrows right away and sighed in disgust :(

Once on top of the Flatiron we really enjoyed watching the clouds roll over the tops of the mountain and checked out the views for awhile. My friends thanked me for taking them there and I could tell they were having a good time. Hurray for hiking and the Supes! Wanted to go up to the peak and have my head in the clouds but my friends had to start heading back down so I told them that I would take them farther along the trail someday... Made it back down through a lot of traffic on the way up and when at the bottom of the trail looked back up at the Flatiron and and everyone agreed on what an awesome hike that had been! Now that's a great Saturday morning I tell ya!

Let me just say first thing that this hike was awesome! I am in awe of the beauty of the Superstition Mountains!

Having never hiked in the Supes before, I did Lost Dutchman to Bull Pass to the Black Mesa a couple weeks ago. The next week I took the Siphon Draw to Flatiron and Peak 5024. For my 3rd hike I decided on the Ridgeline Trail. We decided to Start up Siphon Draw and end on the Carney Trailhead. Began from the Goldmine Restaurant at 7:00am and made it to the beginning of the Ridgeline Trail in 1.5 hours, not bad. The sights all along the trail are AMAZING! I constantly found myself stopping to take in the views and clear my mind while I soaked up the epicness. The cairns along the way never led us astray. The Trail was fairly easy to follow and when in doubt look around until you see a cairn! Happy when I saw the sign that says Carney T.H. 1.8 miles because my legs were pretty tired by that point. Was smiling the whole way through and when all was said and done and I looked back up at the Supes from the Carney Trailhead, I had a huge sense of accomplishment. An adventure that I would recommend to anyone who loves to hike!

Sidenote: Drank 2.5 liters of water, ate an apple, banana, peanuts, and beef jerky along the way, your legs will get torn up if you wear shorts, don't forget sunscreen

After my hike to the Black Top Mesa I wanted to see what the Siphon Draw to Flatiron was all about and I was not disappointed my friends! What an amazing hike! :)

Started out on the Siphon Draw trail at 7:00am and took my sweet time taking lots of pictures of the area. This was my first time here and I was awestruck with the views on the way to the top. Got off trail a few times but a kind sir I met on the way pointed me in the right direction (thanks Corey wherever you are!). I really enjoyed the climbs along the way and I took a lot of breaks just to look around and enjoy the silence. As the looming Flatiron became closer and closer I became more and more excited! I was hoping for epic views and this hike did not let me down in that regard, awesomeness abounds at the top. I ran up the trail to the Flatiron and met a couple of people that were camping from the night before. After chatting for awhile I excused myself to go to the edge of the Flatiron. There I stood, exhilarated, but to my dismay I looked down to see a giant turd and wads of toilet paper :( . Determined not to let this ruin my moment of triumph, I moved farther along and resumed enjoying the sights.

On my way down I met a British man (Pete) who was climbing up to peak 5024 and he kindly let me come along and showed me the way up. Once there I was confronted with more amazing views and I knew then that I would hike the Ridge Line Trail someday ( a week and a half later it turns out)! Had fun hopping down the trail on the way back and my legs were shaking a little when I got back to the car but I was smiling from ear to ear! What a hike! Thanks Superstitions, you are awesome. :y:

This was my first time hiking in the Supes!

Our group started from the First Water trail head at 9:30am on a beautiful AZ morning and I was super excited to be out there. Just cruised along the whole way with a few short breaks here and there to check out the views. Got to Bull Pass and was anxious to get to the top so that I could check out Weaver's Needle. Outstanding epic view at the top of the Black Mesa and in that moment knew that I was hooked on this wilderness for life!!! :y: Decided to leave my group and hike back alone to have some time to clear my head and reflect on some things. Made it back without any issues and was very happy when I got back to my car at the trail head as this had been the longest hike I had ever done in my life :)

Saw hundreds of bees/wasps/hornets, and I saved a monarch butterfly from drowning to death too!(Karma +1) This was a great experience for me and made me hungry for more! :D

So this was my first hike in AZ since I moved back from CO in August. I hadn't been out in the McDowell mountains for about 18 years so I decided to go check out the preserve with a hike to Tom's Thumb.

Got to the trail head with my friend Chris at 7:30am and headed up. It was a beautiful day to be out hiking and we were enjoying the views and constantly stopping to climb random boulders and such on the way up. Got stuck by a cholla in the leg when I was horsing around off trail and Chris yanked it out for me :) The scenery is pretty awesome out there and we had a lot of fun scrambling around the side of the thumb and checking out the ogre's den.

Definitely a fun time and it's a place that I would like to bring my less hiking experienced friends to in the future! :)
