:) This was a great day for a hike! It was my kids first time on the trail together and we had a blast. We even saw a Boy Scout troop setting luminares out.

 Great hike today. Both of my kids went with (10yrs & 11yrs old) and we took some great pics that we be posted soon.

The weather was slightly overcast with cool temperatures which made it even nicer. A helicopter was hovering over the other side of the Mountain, where I later learned some goofball had gotten stuck near the top!!! Good for him!

Anyway, fun hike as always!

What a great trip! This was my first time on this trail and it began in a goofy way. Why? Because I wasn't sure if I was on the correct trail!!! :)

Thanks to a post from Sid Hayes... I was able to find the place, but didn't see one sign that said "Warrior Trail" on it. I did see the first marker post which read "Ma-Ha-Tauk", so
I went for it.

At the train head, there was a very nice parking lot and a water fountain that worked just fine. I was the only one there, so I figure most people are smart enough to stay away from these trails during the HOT weather. (But I never claimed to be smart...)

I started up the trail heading south and really enjoyed the locations of the "look-out" locations at each of the Marker Posts. The trail itself doesn't look to intimidating but the footing is pretty loose at times.

After a while the trail turns left or East and starts to wrap around the mountain. The scenery was very nice and today was blessed with a nice breeze.

I didn't see many critters at all but was very surprised at the number of birds that let me approach without flying away. They just sat on the trees chirping away! (Probably wondering what in the blankety-blank I was staring at...) Oh well, I enjoyed the company!

As the trail wraps around East... it's starts to head down a little bit. That's when I ran into Marker Post #22 for the Max Delta Loop. I was a little confused as to where the Warrior Trail actually ended because I didn't reach a peak of any type.

I continued on for about a minute or two and then headed back. Oh yeah, remember the loose footing I mentioned earlier? Well, I figured that today would be a great day to lose some "Cool Points" and slipped on the way down the trail... landing on my BUTT-TOCKS!

In conclusion, the trail was nice... especially for a quick morning hike. I'll be back though... so that I can figure out exactly how this trail ends & meets up with others.

Take care,

:?: Why did I hike this trail in July at 3pm??? Who knows... but as hot as it was, I did have a nice time. It took me about an hour or so to complete the hike and I was the ONLY person out there. (That should have been my first clue... :D )

album_page.php?pic_id=123

One thing was obvious... in Feb or Mar, this trail I would imagine is beautiful. There are a lot of plants & flowers just waiting to explode with beauty. Even today, as hot as it was, I enjoyed sharing the path with 4 snakes (2 Rattlesnakes and 2 skinny little guys that I couldn't identify) and some kind of desert lizard about the size of a cat... OOF!

The path was split in half by a mountain road 1/2 of the way to the top. Parts of the top half had narrow paths and steep drops... but the path itself wasn't bad at all. You'll run into Bajada Trail, a couple Loop's that I forgot the names of, and the National Trail at the top.

Anyway... bring plenty of water & sun block and you'll have a great time!

:D This is a great trail to enjoy with your family or by yourself. It's broken into three sections.

The first section of the trail is paved for approx. 1/2 mile as you head up the mountain. At this point, there is a nice turn around point.

The second section turns into a "rocky baseball diamond" type of terrian. It's still pretty easy, but some ankle twisting may occur if you're not paying attention. Of course... we have a turn around point at the end of this section also.

The third and final section is the most advanced... turning into a true mountain hike terrain. At the top of Telegraph Pass, you'll have a rest area with a bench to relax on for a bit. It normally takes me 17 - 20 minutes to climb to the top.

From here, you can go back down... OR keep going up on another trail called National East trail. I'll normally keep going up for another 10 - 15 minutes and then turn around. This gives me a full hour of hiking fun!
