This is an easy green way hidden at the back of South Park in Fuquay Varina. The greenway crosses Wagstaff Road to enter Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Park for additional trails. It was a nice for a later afternoon.

We began at the Moanalua Valley (MV) Trail with the trailhead at the MV Neighborhood Park. Parking was difficult and many of our group parked on the streets in the neighborhood. We had no problems with tickets are citations but were careful not to block any driveways.
We followed the MV Trail for about three miles as it meandered with the Moanalua Stream along the MV. There were several stream crossings on the trail and entering the water was unavoidable. We diverted to the ascent of the ridge line leading to Puu Keahiakahoe (PK) at three miles along MV Trail.
We hiked another 2 miles along the ridgeline. There were sections along the ridgeline that were extremely narrow and muddy at the same time. We used spikes (crampons) to deal with these muddy areas.
Reaching the top of PK along the ridge line is breathtaking. We joined the main ridge line and saw PK immediately. The notable feature being the abandoned relay station.
Around the relay station are the Haiku Stairs and many views of Kaneohe Bay and Valley.
