The hike from Tortilla trailhead was easy and the initial descent thankfully had minimal catclaw annoyance. Scrambling through the canyon was fun and relatively easy for this (somewhat) risk-adverse hiker. Lots of hackberry and oak trees made for pretty scenery combined with the canyon walls. We broke the technical section towards the end into to two 75 ft rappels as described elsewhere on the internet. The last bit of scrambling to the bridge was quick and we made it back in time for lunch. We had the canyon all to ourselves until the very end at the bridge (to be expected).
Wile the rappels weren't terribly memorable, the scenery and scrambling section made this a canyon I would definitely do again. Fun! |
