Took the alternate route north after Garden Valley (to arrive at Hackberry Spring from the north). Beautiful clear cool day (high in the low 60s). As much water as I can recall seeing on any Superstitions hike thanks to the abundance of rain on the two days prior: Lots of mud on the trail in Garden Valley and First Water creek (in the shallow canyon just north of the corrals and windmill) was flowing audibly.

Wanted to take advantage of one of the (likely) last temperate days before the blast furnace commences. The high was 74F so that, with some nice cool breezes, made for really just perfect hiking weather. Lots of folks (especially for a Monday) on the trail coming at us doing the loop in the clockwise direction (I know, right?!). A couple of spry octogenarians from Minnesota/Nebraska on horseback at Whiskey Spring junction. Two separate reported rattlesnake sightings. Left at 10:30AM and returned to TH by 5:00PM with a 30m break for lunch near Crystal Spring. As great a hike as I remember it being, with the many moods and micro-climates of the Superstition wilderness in full effect.

Quite a few Strawberry hedgehog cacti blooms. Very few of the following: Mexican poppies, purple Arizona lupine, Blackfoot daisy, Coursetia glandulosa (Rosary Babybonnets).
