| no partners | | I drove drown from Flagstaff at 3 AM. No one at the trailhead when I arrived at 10. We had to park outside the camping area but we’re able to walk through to get to the trail. The evidence of the fire is everywhere. But the evidence of the recovery work is there as well. There are large sections of the trail that’s are very easy to follow, while there are other section covered with fallen trees and debris to climb over and around. When we went, spring was very evident. Bright green baby aspens are growing everywhere along with many yellow wildflowers and a few white and red varieties as well! The climb down to the creek intersections went fairly quick. The second half/307A is a very narrow trail that feels like you’re on the edge of the mountain at points. The climb down to the slick rock was steep, but doable - when they say slick they mean SLICK. One little drop of water had my boots sliding so be cautious! There is so much to explore when you get to the falls. The views along the way are incredible. I ran into only 2 other groups. I was able to take my dog and he was wiped out!! |
