I did this as a solo out and back dayhike on Sat Nov 1. Alltrails clocked it as 15.5 mi 5500 vf roundtrip. Left trailhead at 8am, took an hour break at the river and then two half hour breaks on the way back. I encountered one group of four, two other pairs of hikers, and saw 4ish tents down at the river. As some have noted, the first and last 1.25 miles are the steepest. A fair amount of loose rock in that section. I have a lot of hiking experience, including a handful of similar distance and vertical, but I found this one to be the most physically exhausting of any I've done. This was my first GC hike, and it probably wasn't a good first choice. I had 4L of water w me and I ran out shortly before the last brutal stretch up at the end and ended up feeling very dehydrated by the end.
