good, worthy draw by Grasshopper ![]() This moderate, pleasant, and partially off-trail loop hike enters scenic and riparian Merritt Draw with seasonal water flow, pooling, a perennial spring, Drift Fence Spring, and travels NNE down the draw to its lower end at the intersection with Barbershop Canyon and U-Bar Trail #28.
From the intersection, follow some well and not so well defined animal routes. The off-trail route continues with about 350 ft of elevation gain to connect with the lower end of scenic FR139C for hiking, biking, and driving for roughly a 2.2-mile hike back to start to complete this loop.
I recommended "Counterclockwise" vs. "Clockwise" as described above. From the recommended Start location described in directions, first hike 2.2 miles down FR139C, then off-trail downhill to enter close to the intersection of Barbershop Canyon/Lower Merritt Draw, then continue off-trail hiking up Merritt Draw.
