marvel at the tenacity of life by Eric85373 Overview
The Desert Ecology Trail is a short, level, and paved accessible trail in Saguaro National Park East. This trail is a journey through a world of extremes, where blazing sun meets cool shadows, and where life thrives in the most unlikely places. The Hike The trailhead is located along the one-way Cactus Forest Loop Drive, shortly after passing the Cactus Forest Overlook. There are four parking spaces, one of which is accessible. The trailhead sign is large and across the road from the parking area. Use caution when crossing.
The paved trail has no noticeable elevation gain as it first winds north next to a dry wash, then turns east briefly before swinging south. It ends at the same parking area. There are several benches and interpretive signs along the route, plus some large and handsome saguaros. The pavement is smooth and suitable for strollers and wheelchair users. The trail is open to all leashed pets. Leave No Trace and +Add a Triplog after your hike to support this local community. |
