In response to Steven's reply: From Phoenix head west on I-10 towards California. Take the Estrella Parkway exit and head south. Continue 8.2 miles to Elliot Road. Take a right and the gas station will be on the right hand side. From that point we are still around 20 mile from the trail head. Looks...

I also hurt.... I was ALSO in T-bird park ( off trail ) coming down a pretty steep hill... dropped down onto a large boulder, it shifted, i lost my balance and fell, and fell again.... Pretty good tumble.... I got up, made sure everything was still attached, no major blood leakage, and hiked back to...

I have run into several small groups of them in thunderbird park in glendale.

They seemed to be easily spooked and never presented a threat.

Your S-10 should be fine... The only real obstacle to the trailhead is some soft sandy spots on a bumpy dirt road. As long as you keep moving, you should be fine.

Glad to see all the interest... We are looking at a Saturday - probably in October. a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle is needed to get to the trail head. There is a gas station/store out in estrella ranch that serves as a meeting place and parking for non-worthy vehicles. I suggest everyone check both...

3rd annual quartz peak trek

This is in the preliminary planning stage.... But was thinking about a 3rd trip up to quartz peak. Obviously it wouldnt be for several month, until the weather cools down. For those not familiar, Quatrz peak is in the Estrella mountians and considered remote and difficult. TrailDEX has a good descri...
