Re: Toyota Motor Mount, Frame Failure Warning

Well crap, I'm going to have to give my 2012 FJ a thorough look over. I tend to drive it a little hard.

Re: 5-day backpack in the Superstitions

@gardel It's better now than in the past, still has a little bite but nothing to be very worried about. That being said GPX tracks can be helpful in some spots. I personally would use the Red Tanks option.

@Mr_Squishy There is a ton of water out there right now, the creek is a better option than the well.

@hikeaz Exactly, excellent translation. Not sure how people sleep on the ground without it.

Re: Tule TH Hammock Camping?

Thanks so much for all the info everyone, I love what a resource this community is. thankfully I've convinced my ride that camping at the TH and driving home in the morning is better for him than driving back at night, well... better for me at least. So now I can bring some ground gear and send it b...

@hikeaz Nice! I can work with that. I'm assuming that is the corral 1 mile in.

Thanks

Re: Tule TH Hammock Camping?

@big_load
Sounds great, the plan for day 1 is to hike in to Reavis and ultimately exit at First water. I'm looking forward to hiking the Tule and Two Bar Ridge trails for the first time.

Tule TH Hammock Camping?

So I'm planning a big backpack trip in the Supes and am getting dropped off at the Tule TH at night and will be camping there. I'm only bringing a hammock which will work for the rest of the trip, I'm good at finding a hang when it doesn't seem likely. Does anyone have any experience trying to use a...

Re: Missing hikers in Supes: Jonathon Trethewey, Todd Adair and Jason Nichols

Must have brought some new attention to the area, there must have been 50+ cars parked on the road by carnie springs today when I was leaving Peralta around 1:00 today. I've never seen that before.

Store it in the freezer after every use and you won't need to clean it.

Re: hiking ban during hot temperatures

@JasonCleghorn Kinda like apples to bowling pins. I'm sure heat restrictions will square away all the problems with those pesky kids and their cans of PBR. You support it because I don't? Fruit to Fruit? So all the people that do go out and train in the heat every year without the need for rescue, ...

Re: hiking ban during hot temperatures

@JasonCleghorn I fail to see the connection between being allowed to hike Camelback when it's hot out and people that don't practice LNT ethics. It's not like putting temperature restrictions on all of us are going to clear the tools out of your IG feed. I don't like the idea of a city council memb...

I'd be interested in going out after the trail melts a little, probably not 5 days, maybe 3.

John Matteson is the guy to talk to, there is a link to email him on the ATA calendar. I was just out with him and Joe on working on the Divide trail.

Re: Forest Service gag order... Ridiculous!!

I didn't hear anything about not talking to the public, some supervisors might have been worried and said not to engage the public, don't know just speculating. Not calling anyone a liar, just reporting what I saw. I know the people I was with were told not to wear uniforms hiking alone, no gag order.
