FR 300 itself was not closed but many of the FR roads going north away from the rim were closed along with trails. Most impacted area is south and west of Blue Ridge Reservoir.

Re: Trans-Mazatzal hike this Spring
The section between Club Spring and South Fork Deadman Creek has sketchy trail to no trail with thick bushwhacking in some areas. So if people are expecting trail the whole way they will be surprised when it disappears. Just wanted to through out that disclaimer

I'm going to do the 50k...whether I have to walk part of it or not just want to finish. Ran 26 miles last Sunday so I know that I can make the distance

I must say the scope and scale of the immature BS above surprised me This is a forum where people share opinions for better or worse. Judging the entire site on the forum is missing 99% of the value for anyone looking for good AZT information. As other have mentioned the really good information reg...

Re: Looking for a couple of hearty volunteers...
if you spend time hiking other trails in Arizona it's clear that the AZT is the Cadillac of trails conditions. And much of that is due to the many hours that volunteers like Shawn spend maintaining and improving vast sections...thanks

Re: Mazatzal Wilderness Area
@big_load I try to extrapolate from posted photos what that area looks like now I have a photoset (pre-HAZ) from 2 months before the fire that I feel lucky to have. That's why we went back after the fire to see the difference and see if we could still follow the trail. Lots of nuke pics like the on...

Re: Mazatzal Wilderness Area
@friendofThundergod the spring at Club Cabin is probably year round.... channel our inner Joe's & JJ's and just out and back Barnhardt to the reservoir in one day That would be quite a hike with the terrain....all this talk has me intrigued to try and retrace that trail as closely as possible from ...

Re: Mazatzal Wilderness Area
@friendofThundergod I think Richard has it right...hazbot is just following the Topo which can be innacurate. But real problem is the trail has almost completely washed out from the fire. We hiked Davenport between Chislon and Club Cabin as part of a loop backpack in April 2005 which was 9 months a...

Re: Mazatzal Wilderness Area
@friendofThundergod The part of Davenport Trail between Club Cabin and Chilson was pretty nuked from the Willow Fire but it's there in parts. However, once you get past Club Cabin site it's pretty easy to follow the trail all the way to the reservoir if that's the goal. Unfortunately one of the mos...

Re: ACL Tear
I had pretty much the same injury you did in May of last year. There was very little pain after two weeks of rest so I continued to hike. However, there were problems with stability and it would get pain/fatigue hiking more than 6 to 8 miles. So based on the MRI showing a tear decided to look closer...

Re: Pine Mtn Verde Rim Loop
Update on when we'd like to meet up for the hike. I believe it's about 2 hours with the dirt road part so to start hiking by 830 we need to meet around 630. Hope that's not too early for everyone.
We can figure out rides and meet up spot as it gets closer.

Re: 2013-2014 HAZ Road Rally
it's the length of pavement BETWEEN the two that is the killer and it's the only option to connect the two. And so far, for the northern and southern 1/3's of the state definitely the pavement between dirt tracks is tough to piece together. I've found around Globe and Winkleman difficult and south ...

Re: Four Peaks Mother Lode Sat May 4th
Does anyone have issue with being on the trail by 730am? That means leaving Phx around 530 depending on where you live. I live near 32nd and Shea if anyone needs to hitch a ride…I have room for two more so PM me if needed. Anyone else planning on driving or carpooling?

Four Peaks Mother Lode Sat May 4th
Hoping to get a few takers for the Mother Lode on Saturday May 4th. I've hiked to Browns Peak and Peak 2 from the saddle and want to complete the rest so this will be the first time doing this hike. Plan is to go from the saddle and do Browns first going north to south and then come back on the Amet...
