Urban Waterfalls?

Post by paulhubbard »

Hi everyone,

I'm in search of "urban waterfall" scenes in the Scottsdale-Mesa areas. I know a couple of families that want family portraits with a waterfall backdrop, but they're not willing to drive to a real waterfall. Does anyone know of pretty scenes, like entrances to neighborhoods with man-made waterfalls in the Scottsdale area? Lots of vegetation around it would be a plus.

(I know, I reminded them of where they live and the 'natural' lack of trees, streams, and waterfalls...)

Thanks!
Paul

If they're looking for unnatural, why not just go all the way fake?

Also, I've heard that some shopping malls have fountains and waterfalls. It's a double-win because they can get Santa and the Easter Bunny in the picture too.

we had some of our engagement photos taken at the waterfall in freestone park in gilbert. It was suggested by our photographers (then we went over to lost dutchman for sunset photos). The third photo in the below link shows a picture of the spot:

http://tracykloock.wordpress.com/2010/1 ... tone-park/

The photographers were able to sit us around the edge, and used telephoto to isolate just us and the prettier parts of the waterfall.

Including the option to pay them $$$$ for the privilege of using their grounds for a photo shoot! I'm on the cheap!

There is a water fall (more like a concrete flume) on one of the canals on the north side of Mesa, but visitors are not welcome though.
One of the canals in Scottsdale has a water feature and includes a visitors center.
I believe the Glendale Municipal Complex has a large water feature.
The Fountain at Fountain Hills.

As a state university, you may be able to use the fountain outside ASUs Memorial Union for no fee.

It's truly a masterpiece of H2Art. It features a square-ish pool of water and three or four 3/4" steel pipes that shoot water continually similar to a lawn sprinkler system that leaks. Plus, it's surrounded by vintage 70s architecture.

It really is a sight to behold.
