Such is Life
Observed a coyote kill a cottontail and eat it this morning. The cottontail was attempting to cross a road, paused due to traffic and the coyote pounced on it grabing it behind the neck. The coyote trotted off with his kill and consummed it in an open area and rested nearby.

Hey saved him from getting hit by a car
Seriously tough, that is interesting to see in person. I haven't witnessed anything such.
I think the most exciting thing I've seen is a snake chasing a lizard. It just kept going and going and going. Yeah the lizard was fast, but I couldn't believe the snake went like fifteen yards before giving up. I guess what was amazing was they zipped out on the trail RIGHT in front of me and went ahead on the trail! It was pretty cool

Carpe Diem
Your observation reminds me of the "observation skills" we need to have with our Legislature.Nighthiker wrote:Observed a coyote kill a cottontail and eat it this morning. The "rabbit" could be a "pretty good idea. The coyote is usually "leadership." They LOVE to eat in public, snacking on bills and ideas they find easily "digestible." Since the "leadership" is "lean and mean," they can catch ANYTHING and they delight in MUNCHING DOWN in FULL public view!

Re: Such is Life
Although that event is somewhat sad to see, I think your topic title "Such is Life" sums it all up. Nature can be brutal sometimes. But natural selection being what it is, the cycle will keep on going. Perhaps all one can do is consider themselves fortunate to have been a first-hand observer of it.Nighthiker wrote:Observed a coyote kill a cottontail and eat it this morning. Weakest in the food chain?
Ever seen a plant get up and run from a rabbit?
Rabbit's are not weak, and certainly are not slow, they have evolved for their particular spot in the food chain... ER: eating things and not being eaten.
Everything is part of the food chain, and I am darn glad I am on the top of it ;]

Do the vehicles on the road represent the lobbyists in this metaphor??montezumawell wrote: Your observation reminds me of the "observation skills" we need to have with our Legislature.
