Hiking Stick Stun Gun

I'd guess more animal abuse than human safety :M2C:

On the bright side maybe Paul will trade in his riffle.

Pointless. I'd rather poke a bear with a tree branch than really piss it off by giving it a non-lethal shock. It's like punching a drunk guy at a bar. Nothing good can happen after that.

If I met a grizzly here, would I feel better about having a 5-foot stun gun? Pepper spray? Handgun? Rifle?

Don't tase me bro!
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Might be good for urban hikes to keep unleashed, aggressive dogs at bay. However, I don't like how you have to flip it around to use it. The stunner should be on the bottom.

Would also be fun to poke your hiking partners with, if you can adjust the voltage down a bit.

@Dave1
Also a little shock to annoying people you pass on Camelback with a greater than 5:1 Axe to sweat ratio.

@Dave1 Used to do that in the Army. Walking along, bend the antenna on your PRC-77 (radio) so it touches your buddy, key the mike, fun ensues ... :whistle:

@friendofThundergod
Well it sorta slows the hike down when your partners are laying motionless on the ground. Plus, you know you're gonna get it when they come to.

How many zaps can you get with one charge? Compatible with Goal Zero solar chargers?

When I was a kid my grandparents had an electric fence around their cow pasture. Convinced my brother that if he touched the wire with a tree branch nothing would happen, it's only if you touch it with your hand do you get a jolt. Poor sucker believed me.

Common fun when I was a kid. The electricity "pulsed" through the wire, so it was a real challenge if you could actually hold onto it for a few cycles since instinctively you would let go on the first jolt. And I thought cows were the dumbest creatures on the planet... :)

It was only one wire and about eyeball height for a 5 year old. The logistics would not have worked. But I like how you think.

@joe bartels

I'd guess more animal abuse than human safety

I agree

I've always love the Will Rogers witticism:
There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.
Anybody can make a hike harder. The real skill comes in making the hike easier.
