Yesterday we did the Deer Creek #45 trail. From the TH .3 miles is a new road being built that follows Gold Ridge Trail #47. This road is pretty major and connects with SR 87.
Any ideas what this will be?

I was wondering if this will be a new TH getting rid of the loop one off the 188/87 intersection. Or is this a new mine we don't know about?

@Alston Neal
According to Nighthiker: "I believe they are constructing a site to relocate the memorial of the two DPS officers that is located in the closed Rest Stop nearby."

Wow it's even bigger than I thought. I was curious since it is on National Forest land and quite the project. One would think that opening the existing rest area would be cheaper.

Cheaper = not enough profit in it (I grown even more jaded and cynical in my old age).Alston Neal wrote: One would think that opening the existing rest area would be cheaper.

Ya the Mt. Ord /87 construction seems to be a runaway truck ramp and hill cutback like on I-17 west of Camp Verde. This appears to be unrelated.
