Lightweight Homemade First Aid Kit Ideas

Post by hippiepunkpirate »

Instead of buying one of the pre-made ones, I want to make my own custom homemade first aid kit. It should be lightweight and highly packable, yet cover all the bases of essential wilderness first aid. Anyone have any ideas on how to put one together, small lightweight components to use, what to use as a "case" to carry it in, ect?

threads dying, but...

Anyone out there carry tea tree oil?

I find that when I'm scratched up, dusty, grimy and downright not feeling as good as I should after 2 or 3 days - I drink some water and apply some tea tree oil to a babywipe or a damp washcloth to clean the face, pits, and parts. You can also apply it to a cottonball for scratches and cuts (it's a minor antiseptic, and I read a study that suggests it helps prevent MSRA staph). And, if the sinuses act up or the hiking partner reeks on the ride home, put a dab on the inside of your nostrils. Lastly, it's a decent-to-mediocre bug repellent.

Duct tape = yes, with a but: exempting short trips.
