SAFE 4th of JULY ALL
It is late, the chores are done, my pack is packed and tomorrow evening at this time I will be up on Juniper Mesa Wilderness for an overnighter. I hope all of you on HAZ have a wonderful, safe, 4th of July week-end.

Hey Joe, thanks for the best deep theater voice.
However,
we did not accomplish what we set out to do. My overnighter! Made the 20 mile, give or take, hike through Juniper Mesa Wilderness and back to my jeep, but, I was running critically low on my water to concern me by the time I got to my anticipated camp sight near junction 20 and 3. So, I agonized over this an hour under a juniper tree.
: As an example, I knew down below on the road I would hike to get to my trailhead, there would be a couple of ranch houses and so if they had a demented individual  knocking on their door asking for water, I am sure they would have helped. On the other hand my macho side kicked in
and I did not want to bother anyone for my idiot oversight, I would accomplish this on my own. There was of course other thoughts giving to this and in the final outcome I opted to hike out. The ironic thing about this, is when I was about a half mile from my trailhead I ran into the gent and his aussie healer that I ran into on the trail going the opposite direction hours earlier. He was hurting, as well as I, and he had decided to hump out of the wilderness because of his water situation, although he did find Juniper Spring and a trickle of water, briefing me on its location. I didn't find it at first, but he was a bit more desperate than I was. Notwithstanding, I offered to give him and his dog a ride back to his trailhead seven miles from where I had just come. :A2: After hiking it, I couldn't stand the thought of him doing it and it was already dark with a sliver of moon in the sky.

sounds like you made the right decisions and it turned out,
serves as a better memory anyhow
it's always nice to learn lessons and live to tell 'em
don't worry I've seen Stallone he's barely 5ft,
you're my hero any day
of course I do need to edit the introduction
July 4th,
one man,
lead by desire,
fueled by his passion,
entered the wilderness,
then high tailed it out!

But, I think we've all been there. "high-tail it out to hike another day"
I have been in that same situation a couple of times. Gets your adrenaline going for sure.

Alas, let us pause for effect, hands on the forehead, palm out, looking in the distance, thoughtful, mournful,,,,, yes, yes, I knew this would come.
Thanks for your understanding and compassion, HikerInGilbert. I note we are both in our 40's, both wise. :GB:
Unlike the young lad, Joe. :rollH:

I thought one of the best ways to celebrate the Country's birthday was to get back to a little "Boot" roots! What better way to do that than a visit to Tombstone, AT! First, stopping by Boothill to pay respects...

...and then, managing to stay "IN" town till sundown!
