Best Mexican Food Restaurant in Superior / Miami / Globe?

Post by Grasshopper » Jul 23 2008 10:31 am

If anyone can confirm or deny this below, previous post of mine (by having eaten here & other Mex restaurants in the area), please post your comments:

"Special Note: I now have it from high authority from an eight year local from Globe that THE PLACE to eat the best MEXICAN FOOD in GLOBE is:
Libby's El Rey Mexican Food Restaurant..
(East into Globe on Hwy60 north side, after Hwy188 intersection and before reaching Hill Street(which is the right turn off Hwy60 for this Six Shooter Trail hike)..Look for a Circle-K and Car Wash on the south side of Hwy60..)"

Original name/address/phone# is "NO LONGER":
Libby's El Rey Cafe
999 N Broad Street, Globe, AZ 85501
928-425-2054

NEW name/address is as of this 1/9/18 edit post:
J&R El Rey Café Reynoso's
999 N Broad Street, Globe, AZ 85501
928-425-8154
Location coordinates: 33.40423 -110.79260
(after dark easy to miss)

Actual name/address/phone# is:
Libby's El Rey Cafe
999 N Broad Street, Globe, AZ 85501
928-425-2054

This original "Libby's El Rey Café" https://hikearizona.com/dex2/igallery/i ... hp?id=4822 closed down and then later re-opened (I believe but not certain) under a different name. Telephone # 928-425-2054 is no longer..

I'm not sure I understand this post. Is there a Mexican restaurant at the old Libb'ys location that might be operated by the old Libby's management? If so, I'll have to go back for another meal. I've been stopping at Los Hermanos for the last couple years.

Maybe or maybe not.. I'm don't really know. We need someone to check that old location out and report back.

I find it difficult to locate (and especially so after dark) this old restaurant address in the Globe commercial district, along Hwy 60:
Libby's El Rey Cafe
999 N Broad Street, Globe, AZ 85501

So, for what it's worth, here are the GPS Coordinates for this above address-
33.4042287
-110.792600

I'll put these waypoint coordinates in my handheld GPS Receiver and if you in Nov'17 or someone else does not find the time to "check it out" and report back, I will do so in December'17 on my way to chase another possible ancient, lesser known ruins site further up Hwy 60 north :)

From what I've been told Libby's is not the same family. It's the family that has Chola's. So quality wise I've been told ...not Libby's.

As of Sept of last year, "Libbys" was open for business... can't vouch for the food as I never ate there while I lived in Globe. Hopefully, it's better than the other places Globe is famous for...

Good day to you as well!! Haven't been hiking in so long, I haven't felt worthy of posting... couldn't resist the Globe thread, though.

Hello big_load-
Did you stop by on your way through in Nov'17? If not, I will plan to finally confirm or deny this coming Sat-1/13/18pm :)

I'm confused. What exactly are the unanswered questions here? 🤔

Libby's El Rey Cafe closed and doesn't exist anymore.

The interior of the building was remodeled and the restaurant reopened as J&R's El Rey Cafe.

J&R is not Libby.

Here's what the sign looks like now.

The phone number is (928) 425-8154 and I'm guessing that whoever answers the phone will tell you that the food is delicious.
