It’s nothing big, I was going to do a thru-hike of the AZT anyway, but I found out that the youngest known person to thru hike the AZT is 19. When I complete the trail I’ll still be 18 this spring, so I was wondering how to make this a record?

Just guessing here, but I imagine contacting the Arizona Trail Association would be a good start.

You might need to get witnesses and an official to verify that you did it. I'm not sure if you have register anywhere in advance to get the official record.

And if it's important to you, maybe carry a GPS and log your trip, so if anyone questions if you did it you have some proof. If you're doing this for strictly personal reasons then it doesn't matter if you have to prove it to anyone, you will know what you did.

Wasn't there a gal through-hiking the AZT with her young (9-10?) daughter last year?
If so, do you know if they completed it?

I don't remember that specifically. The Householder family is section hiking it with young children. An 11 year old did 67 miles of the Flagstaff 100 last year. There was a high school senior who hiked it, the name escapes me now. (Notice a trend regarding memory here?)

There should be a category "Hiker who enjoyed this AZT thru-hike the most".
Hard to measure but I'm sure I would be a serious contender for the title

Well - can't say for sure, but I have records of someone reported as 85 who section hiked it over 2 years. Another at 81. The oldest for "All at Once" is 76.

I hope I'm that badass when I'm 85. Or even half that badass.

Is that considered a bad word?
