How sad.
I wonder how much traffic there was at the time.

Re: seven deaths on the Angels Landing trail since 1919
That's terrible - having done that hike tho I can see it very possible and quite honestly am kinda amazed that there are not more fatalities. There was one small portion that one step to the left just a little off would be at LEAST a 1500 foot drop.....
My one VIVID memory during that hike was seeing this poor woman frozen in fear when there was an 8 foot gap from the end of one chain to the start of another....all she could do was repeat..."The chain, the chain the chain......." It was a bear to hike around her, for her sake I hope she either made it to the top or back down without any permanent mental scarring. We aren't all meant to hike.....
My heart goes out to that family.....

Out of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.....

Re: seven deaths on the Angels Landing trail since 1919
This is indeed very sad.
I've only hiked to Angel's Landing once, but I did it on a very busy summer day. I was amazed at the continuous stream of hikers going both up and down. I saw various levels of comfort with the height and the exposure, ranging from a terrified woman who had her arms wrapped around one of the poles supporting the chains to other hikers who were jogging to the top with nothing but thin air only a matter of feet from the path they were on. Looking back at my photos just now, it's not hard to imagine having a mishap on this route.
