What's your least favorite?
With a website full of pelli ratings, star wish lists, and likes, it's fairly easy to figure out what hikes people like to hike the most.
But what are some of your least favorites, and why?

So we shouldn't put you in the category of folks on here who would be ok with their time coming due under the premise of "at least they were doing what they loved!"CannondaleKid wrote:my least favorite would be the only hike I didn't return from

Re: What's your least favorite?
@chumley
I know what you mean Liz, but personally I would MUCH rather go out hiking, doing something I loved rather than in a memory/aging home or a car accident.
However, it would still be my least favorite because it would be my last...
@azbackpackr I DO agree with you about the bucket list, although I sure liked it back in 1963 when the guy actually kicked the bucket in the movie It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World... we laughed so hard throughout the movie my sides actually hurt the next day.
(Of course 55 years later it's not quite as funny as when I was 13)

I like that movie and the one with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. But the term is overused and should be retired.
I care a lot for my family, and so many are already gone, it is sad and a little lonely for me all the time. I just want whichever ones who are left to be there to hold me when I go. I do not wish to die out on the cold hard ground, and then have to be dragged out of there by some orange- suited guys in a helicopter.

@SuperstitionGuy
Not really. There are things I'd like to do, sure. But oftentimes I ignore those list things because I find something interesting along the way that I hadn't thought of doing before, whether I'm going hiking, paddling or cycling.

But you wouldn't know and most importantly you would be starting on a new journey. That being said in a similar vein, my least favorite would be one that involves a helicopter ride not paid for by the city or my insurance.

Re: What's your least favorite?
I really don't like Piestewa Peak summit for the sheer number of people and the subsequent increase in annoying behavior like blasting music from speakers (minor annoyance), and people cutting switchbacks (dangerous).
I would also put Flatiron on my list of "least favorites" for some of the same reasons. Maybe I was just having an off day, but I was disappointed when I got to the top and saw a view of.....Apache Junction. I can get nicer city views on closer, less populated, and less strenuous hikes.

Re: What's your least favorite?
I was less disappointed by the view of AJ than by the sheer number of people on the trail. It's among the most crowded hikes I've been on, right up there with the Rim Trail at the Grand Canyon and Angel's Landing at Zion.Lumberjill wrote:I would also put Flatiron on my list of "least favorites" for some of the same reasons. Re: What's your least favorite?
Any trail w/ people on it, yaddah yaddah.
More serious answers...
Barkley Basin stretch of Dutchman - that oven gets hot in the summer, and it's usually the last leg of a long loop.
Upper 2.5 miles of Barnhardt. The climb is done, just feels tedious to get over to the saddle.
Davenport Trail from Sears to Club Cabin. Basically the same views over and over for 10 miles and you barely gain elevation on the way (tho it sure feels like it). And that's after the required 3 mile road walk from the dam.

@mazatzal hey, there are good parts and there are bad in that wilderness. I almost mentioned a certain stretch of Red Hills but figured you might convince Joe to blacklist my account

Havasupai. Sit on the phone for days, spend 100 bucks on permits, drive 5 hours, and hike 10 miles to set camp up at a crowded campground and hang out by a crowded waterfall.

West Fork Oak Creek Trail - - boring and too flat of a trail for me, we turned back probably half way through the hike. Also not a fan of stream crossings... unless they lead to a 14er.
